Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov commented on the dismissal of two inspectors of the Road Transport Administration (RTA) Executive Agency who asked for a bribe from pop star Robbie Williams' crew members last week. "The Government is willing to respond immediately and assist in law enforcement with the necessary resources. We have been talking about a single road control authority for a long time, and it is high time for this to happen," Zhelyazkov said.
The Prime Minister also said that Bulgaria is prepared and will act according to protocol for any Bulgarian citizen who needs to be evacuated from the Gaza Strip. He emphasized that the operation, in which three people were evacuated on Monday, was well coordinated, and they were brought out through Jordan with the assistance of the Consulate General, embassies, and all responsible agencies. According to him, this will not be the last operation.
The Prime Minister once again congratulated Bulgaria's men's national volleyball team, which later in the day returned from Istanbul to Sofia on a government plane after winning silver medals at the 2025 World Championships. "I want to thank the boys. They will return today and receive their well-deserved ovation. We sent the government plane to pick them up because otherwise they would have had to wait in Istanbul until tonight," said Zhelyazkov.
"I do not remember a team sport generating so much emotion since 1994. Their success has two dimensions. The first is because they are our champions. We saw in the final how much effort, struggle, but also calmness there was in the team. Of course, the sporting tension is great. But this team has potential, and their youth guarantees future success. The other dimension is, of course, that the nation was united, it was together," Prime Minister Zhelyazkov stressed.
