site.btaSwedish Ambassador Presents Credentials to Bulgarian Foreign Ministry

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Elena Shekerletova received copies of the credentials of the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Sweden to Bulgaria, Pontus Melander, the Foreign Ministry’s press service said on Thursday.

Melander named the further deepening of bilateral relations in all areas of mutual interest as a major priority for his work in Bulgaria, including cooperation in trade and the economy, scientific and technical partnership, and tourism.

The two sides reaffirmed their steadfast support for Ukraine and its right to self-defence against Russian aggression. They also expressed readiness to intensify political dialogue on current topics on the international and European agenda. During the meeting, they discussed security in the Black Sea region, EU enlargement policy, and combating climate change.

Shekerletova expressed confidence that relations between Bulgaria and Sweden would continue to develop positively and wished Melander success in his mission.
