In a statement on behalf of the There Is Such a People (TISP) parliamentary group during Tuesday's session of the National Assembly, TISP Deputy Floor Leader Stanislav Balabanov said that his prediction is that the fifth vote of no confidence against the Cabinet will also be unsuccessful.

The opposition's powerlessness was most evident in its inability to use its strongest weapon, the vote of no confidence, Balabanov noted, adding that their arguments in the four unsuccessful motions so far were so absurd and untenable that they actually proved the need for stable governance. ”And so, if one looks impartially at all these processes from the outside, on the one hand one sees meaningless talk, and on the other hand one sees results achieved - the timely adoption of all the bills that were important for the fulfillment of our country's obligations under the Recovery and Resilience Plan, the protection of the Bulgarian energy sector and the preservation of low electricity prices for Bulgarian families, rather than entering the free market, and the absolute protection of the Bulgarian national interest on the issue of the Republic of North Macedonia,” Balabanov pointed out.

He said that other achievements are connected to foreign investment in Bulgaria, as thanks to the hard work of the Council of Ministers, Parliament, and the Minister of Economy, final negotiations are underway for the German manufacturer Rheinmetall to come to Bulgaria. Balabanov pointed to other achievements, such as free medicines for children and the adoption of changes to combat inaction by the state administration, namely the introduction of tacit consent, etc.

Starting September 3, TISP's legislative priorities will be related to the completion of their legislative initiatives, such as the removal of the so-called “dead souls” from the Election Code and the introduction of full machine voting with the help of scanning devices, equal application of the law to everyone in Bulgaria, regardless of their citizenship, ensuring that the next budget is as balanced as possible, and final adoption of the new amendments to the Referendum Act, he added. ”While some talk about referendums, use them for political purposes, and pit people against each other, we will actually give citizens the opportunity to be asked, and under much more relaxed criteria,” added Stanislav Balabanov. “Participation in referendums is an indicator of our maturity in making decisions about our own lives,” he said.

Tuesday marked the start of the autumn session of the 51st National Assembly.
