To mark the 130th anniversary of the beginning of Bulgarian tourism, more than 1,000 members of tourist associations and lovers of Bulgarian nature will lay flowers at the memorial plaque in the garden in front of the Ivan Vazov National Theatre at 4:30 p.m., the Bulgarian Tourist Union (BTU) reported. At 5:00 p.m., a procession will depart from the National Theater to the Aleko Konstantinov monument on Vitosha Boulevard.

A gala concert featuring Desi Dobreva, Yanitsa Kaneva, Nova Dimitrova, and others will take place in front of the National Palace of Culture at 7 p.m.

The initiatives are part of a series of events that began in the middle of the week. The anniversary celebrations will be taking place under the auspices of President Rumen Radev until August 31.

On August 27, 1895, at the call of writer Aleko Konstantinov, 300 nature lovers climbed Cherni Vrah, the highest point of Vitosha Mountain.
