Bulgarian head of State Rumen Radev Friday congratulated over the phone Karol Nawrocki on his taking office as President of the Republic of Poland, Radev's press secretariat reported. Radev noted the traditional friendly relations between the two countries and expressed his expectation that the excellent and productive dialogue at the highest level would continue to deepen during Nawrocki's term in office.
The opportunities for increasing bilateral economic exchange and promoting investment were among the highlights of the conversation. The growing number of Polish tourists in Bulgaria and the increasing interest among Bulgarian students in Polish universities were also highlighted.
Radev and Nawrocki noted the deep historical and spiritual ties between Bulgaria and Poland, as well as the significance of the initiative to declare February 14 as Day of Bulgarian-Polish Friendship and Cooperation. The date is dedicated to the work of Saints Cyril and Methodius and their proclamation by Pope John Paul II as co-patrons of Europe.
Radev highlighted Poland's experience in modernizing its armed forces as a positive example and pointed out Bulgaria's interest in deepening partnership in this area, including support for the Bulgarian fighter aviation.
During the conversation, topics from the European and international agenda were also discussed.
The Polish President invited his Bulgarian counterpart on a visit so they would continue the bilateral dialogue at the highest level.
