site.btaCC to Table Draft Resolution on Pay Rise for Medical Professionals

Continue the Change will submit to the National Assembly a draft resolution to raise the minimum basic salary of nurses and midwives to 90% of the average wage in the country and that of young doctors to 125% from June 1, 2025. This was announced on Friday by party leaders and MPs at a meeting with representatives of the Bulgarian Association of Health Care Professionals (AHCPBG), the party's press centre said.
The resolution obliges the Council of Ministers within 30 days to develop specific measures to increase the salaries of medical professionals - young doctors, nurses, midwives, etc. as of June 1, 2025 through funding from the state budget and the National Health Insurance Fund budget. Within 60 days, the Cabinet should prepare and submit a medium-term (two-year) and long-term (until 2030) strategy for a long-term sustainable increase in the remuneration of medical professionals.
The draft resolution was prompted by the ongoing protests by medical professionals across the country, the lack of decent wages and harsh working conditions in the sector, the press release reads.
The AHCPBG said that Continue the Change's proposal is a good first step to solve the systemic problems with the pay and working conditions of medical professionals, but a lasting and long-term policy of the State in this area is needed to solve the shortage of staff in healthcare. They announced that they remain on protest alert.
