Parliament Elects Borislav Bozhinov as Commission for Personal Data Protection Chair

On Friday, the National Assembly elected Borislav Bozhinov as Chair of the Commission for Personal Data Protection with 112 votes in favour, 67 against, and no abstentions. Bozhinov was elected with the votes of MPs from GERB-UDF (56), Movement for Rights and Freedoms – New Beginning (25), BSP – United Left (14), Democracy, Rights and Freedoms (2), and There Is Such a People (15).

Vasilka Rangelova, Ivaylo Stanev, Tsvetana Chervenyakova-Ilieva, and Tsvetelin Sofroniev were elected Commission for Personal Data Protection members.

Bozhinov is an employee of the Interior Ministry with over 17 years of service in the system. He graduated from the Academy of the Interior Ministry, later earned a law degree from the Neofit Rilski South-West University, and served as a seconded officer of the Interior Ministry to the European Commission for two years.
