site.btaSyrian Migrant Wounded After Fight with Compatriot in Harmanli Migrant Centre


Syrian citizen was detained for inflicting bodily harm on his compatriot in the registration and reception centre (RRC) for migrants in Harmanli, Southeastern Bulgaria. At around 16:00 on Tuesday a report of an injured man, resulting from an interpersonal quarrel, was received at the Regional Directorate of the Interior Ministry in Haskovo.
Police teams were immediately dispatched to the scene and found that a male refugee candidate from Syria, had a stab wound in his abdomen. The victim was transported to the regional hospital in Haskovo, where he underwent surgery and is currently without any danger. His attacker was detained for up to 24 hours under the pre-trial proceedings.
The previous similar incident in the Harmanli migrant centre was on April 25, 2021, when five Syrians got into a fight with each other, and three of them were stabbed. The cause of the conflict was again on a domestic basis.
