Ivaylo Iliev, a prosecutor at the Kyustendil District Prosecution Office, has been nominated for election to Bulgaria’s Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) representing the prosecutors’ quota, the SJC said.

Iliev began his career as an investigator in Kyustendil in 2004 and became a prosecutor in 2010. He has since served as prosecutor, deputy district prosecutor and district prosecutor, gaining broad experience of the prosecution system and its practical challenges.

A key part of his profile is his international experience. He served as a European prosecutor from 2022 to 2023, followed by a role assisting Bulgaria’s national member at Eurojust. He currently works there as a seconded national expert specialising in serious organised crime, cybercrime and digital investigations.

His nominators described him as a highly qualified specialist in international criminal-law cooperation, crimes affecting the EU’s financial interests and cybercrime investigations, with experience sharing his expertise through national and international training programmes.
