GERB leader Boyko Borissov criticized the lack of clear information in relation to a drone that crashed on Bulgarian territory during a meeting with the party's Sofia chapter on Tuesday.

"Allegedly a simple drone had been sent to blow up critical infrastructure, but then it turned into a toy," Borissov went on, referring to the drone incident. "Why did they erase the Kintex logo from the official photographs? Who are they trying to fool? They're only fooling themselves," he said, criticizing the governing authorities.

According to Borissov, making political statements at such a moment without having any facts is irresponsible.

Borissov was referring to an incident on August 8, when Defence Minister Dimitar Stoyanov appeared before the media wearing a white T-shirt bearing the logo of the state-owned arms trading company Kintex. The event was broadcast live by several media outlets, where the logo was clearly visible. Later, however, the government's press office distributed official photographs in which the logo had been digitally removed. An edited version of the image was also posted on the official Facebook page of the Council of Ministers.

During the meeting, Borissov introduced the new regional coordinator of GERB–Sofia. Dimitar Vuchev, chair of the Sofia Municipal Council's Budget Committee, has been appointed the party's new regional coordinator for Sofia.

"The most important thing now is for Vuchev to stand before the people of Sofia and explain why we want to govern again. We built the metro and the roundabouts. He should outline what we want to achieve from here on, such as a children's hospital and other major projects," the GERB leader said.

For his part, Dimitar Vuchev said that the trust placed in him comes with great responsibility because the condition and performance of GERB–Sofia have an impact on the party nationwide.

"Our task is clear - to achieve the strongest possible results in next year's local elections, which means winning the largest number of mayoral positions, municipal council seats, and the office of Sofia mayor," the new regional coordinator of the party's Sofia organization said.

Former Sofia Mayor Yordanka Fandakova also commented: "My observation is that people are dissatisfied with the current administration, but they still do not see us as the alternative. Our task now is to show that we can be that alternative and to present our new vision for Sofia's neighborhoods and districts. If we earn people's trust again, we will restore the pace of development, that is what we can promise," Fandakova emphasized.
