A wildfire that broke out near the 69th kilometre of the Trakia Motorway on Thursday has been brought under control after its spread was halted late in the night, the Pazardzhik Regional Directorate of the Interior Ministry said.
Thirteen firefighting teams remained at the scene overnight, along with volunteers, forestry officials using off-road vehicles, and patrols from the police station of the town of Septemvri and Traffic Police. The fire was prevented from crossing firebreaks created with heavy machinery provided by the Asarel-Medet mining company and other companies, police said.
Crews are monitoring the fire perimeter and extinguishing isolated hotspots. New teams took over from the morning shift.
