More than 400 damaged houses in 10 settlements have been inspected following last weekend’s floods, Labour Minister Natalia Efremova told a news briefing on Wednesday. Inventories are being prepared, and families are being consulted about the assistance they can receive from the state, she noted.

People can receive three forms of support, two from the Social Assistance Agency and one from the Social Protection Fund, the Minister explained.

Social workers were on the ground from the very first hour of the disaster, Efremova said. “I do not agree with the suggestions that the support is insufficient,” she said. Social assistance is intended for those who, in the first hours of the disaster, have lost access to medicines and clothing, she explained.

Efremova offered condolences to the family and relatives of the man who died in the floods.
