site.btaUPDATED MRF Will Be Constructive, Responsible Opposition
The Movement for Rights and Freedoms (MRF) will be playing its role as a constructive and responsible opposition, said Ayten Sabri MP of MRF, addressing the 52nd National Assembly during its inaugural sitting here on Thursday.
"We will be backing each policy that defends people's rights and freedoms and is in the interest of Bulgarian citizens and the State," she pointed out. "At the same time, we will be a consistent and principled corrective wherever where there is a deviation from the principles of good governance, transparency and legality and from the rules of democracy and human rights," Sabri added.
"In a volatile domestic and international environment, Bulgaria needs a clear vision and a sustainable policy, the MRF MP said. She pointed out that her party prioritizes quality of life and raising people's standard of living, economic stability and growth, modernization of the economy and agricultural production, ensuring food safety, overcoming social and regional inequalities, supporting young families, preserving and developing traditional values, the country's consistent European development as an effective EU Member State, and constructive partnership with the US and the Euro-Atlantic community.
Sabri noted that the MRF will be guided by the principle of upholding the liberty, justice and equality of every Bulgarian citizen as an integral part of Bulgaria's future. "We are convinced that this is necessary for overcoming the language of confrontation and restoring a culture of political dialogue that contributes to finding common solutions in the public interest," she added.
"Today we are not merely marking the beginning of a new parliamentary term, today we are affirming democracy as a living and continuous process, founded on citizens' trust, rule of law and responsibility of institutions," Sabri said. In her words, democracy is not taken for granted, it is a daily choice of dialogue over confrontation, of the common good over narrow partisan interests. "The voters' will was clear, and we are obliged to respect it," the MP stated.
"Let this Parliament set an example of political maturity, responsibility and statesmanship. Let us prove that we can build bridges rather than divisions, that we can find agreement on key issues for Bulgaria's future," the lawmaker appealed.
