Continue the Change - Democratic Bulgaria (CC-DB) MP Ivaylo Mirchev said on Friday that the coalition can put an end to the "Borissov-Peevski" model (named after GERB leader Boyko Borissov and MRF leader Delyan Peevski). Mirchev was speaking at a BTA press club in Targovishte during a campaign visit ahead of the April 19 parliamentary elections, quoted by the Yes, Bulgaria party press centre.
Mirchev said that he expects the hundreds of thousands of citizens who took part in the anti-government protests of December 2025 to recognize CC-DB as their political representatives. If the coalition succeeds in convincing them, it will achieve its electoral goal, he added.
He was adamant that Peevski should be removed from Bulgarian politics and that the "Borissov-Peevski" model must be dismantled. According to Mirchev, Peevski "runs over everything like a bulldozer," while Borissov "pretends to be a crushed fox". He argued that Borissov is not concerned about Bulgaria’s accession to the eurozone and Schengen, adding that this could have been achieved earlier but was hindered by vested interests linked to border control at Kapitan Andreevo border crossing.
Mirchev also said that other political forces in the next parliament should engage in talks with CC-DB, if talks take place at all. He stressed that his coalition has consistently fought the corruption model over time, while expressing skepticism toward others who claim to do so without proven actions.
He again praised the active efforts of the Interior Minister Emil Dechev and Interior Ministry Chief Secretary Georgi Kandev in tackling vote-buying. According to him, the funds prepared for purchasing votes are far greater than the EUR 500,000 already seized. He added that while vote buyers can be identified and warned by the police, without effective prosecution they do not face due consequences. Mirchev accused the prosecution service of enabling the "Borissov-Peevski" model, allowing perpetrators to evade justice.
