The National System Integrator said on Tuesday that it has started upgrading the national cybersecurity system with support from the U.S. Trade and Development Agency.

The National System Integrator’s cybersecurity monitoring centre, which currently covers the critical infrastructure of selected ministries, is set to be upgraded into a National Cybersecurity Operations Centre. It will coordinate prevention, response, management, and the implementation of an effective mechanism against cyber and hybrid attacks across the entire Bulgarian public administration.

The administration of US President Donald Trump conducted a detailed review and assessment of the project’s effectiveness and prioritized the allocation of resources for its implementation. US partners have already provided the necessary funding, and project teams have begun preparatory activities.

On January 1, 2025, then caretaker Minister of e-Government Valentin Mundrov confirmed that the agreement does not involve the transfer of data from Bulgarian government information systems.
