MRF-New Beginning insisted that the caretaker government respond to the demands of employees of Bulgarian Posts for a 5% increase in what the party described as scandalously low wages. The measure should be adopted immediately through the so-called extended budget, the party said on Tuesday.

The statement added that if the caretaker cabinet does not show the will to take such a step, the parliamentary group of MRF-New Beginning will submit the proposal during the discussion of the budget in the National Assembly of Bulgaria, exactly as requested by the protesters, a 5% pay rise retroactive to January 1.

"For the 7,000 employees of Bulgarian Posts, 5,100 of whom receive the minimum wage, the political intrigues in which the caretaker ministers have become entangled are of no importance," the statement also said.

On Monday, employees of Bulgarian Posts who are members of the Communications Trade Union Federation with the Confederation of Independent Trade Unions in Bulgaria (CITUB) staged protests in a number of cities across the country. Their main demand is that funds be secured for at least a 5% increase in their basic monthly salaries retroactive to January 1, 2026. According to the union’s estimates, the financial resources needed amount to EUR 2.42 million.
