Outgoing Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport and Communications Grozdan Karadjov is hosting a four-party meeting between Bulgaria, Greece, Romania and the European Commission, the Bulgarian Transport Ministry reported here on Thursday. The forum marks the start of practical work on the memorandum of cooperation on the Black Sea–Aegean Sea corridor, signed in December 2025 in Brussels with the support of EU Commissioner for Sustainable Transport and Tourism Apostolos Tzitzikostas.

The meeting will discuss opportunities to finance the projects through European funds or via public-private partnerships, as well as how the three countries can apply jointly for European support. Participants will also discuss specific project parameters and implementation timelines.

A second topic is overcoming administrative and procedural obstacles that traditionally delay the implementation of major infrastructure projects. Participants will review the stage reached by already planned initiatives and seek practical solutions on issues such as permitting regimes, public procurement, construction standards and interoperability.

The event, which will take place on Friday, will be attended by Greece’s Alternate Minister of Infrastructure and Transport Konstantinos Kyranakis, Romania’s State Secretary for Infrastructure and Transport Ionut Cristian Savoiu, the coordinator of the European transport corridor Baltic Sea–Black Sea–Aegean Sea Mario Mauro, Bulgaria's Minister of Regional Development and Public Works Ivan Ivanov, Bulgaria's Minister of Defence Atanas Zapryanov, as well as representatives of the European Commission and financing institutions.

Deputy Prime Minister Karadjov is scheduled to give a media briefing prior to the forum's start.
