Continue the Change (CC) leader Assen Vassilev Thursday commented the third government-forming mandate and the latest inflation statistics. "This is a clear sign by President Rumen Radev against Peevski," said he in a comment of the announcement earlier on Thursday that the head of State will mandate the parliamentary group of Alliance for Rights and Freedoms to designate a prime minister.

Vassilev also commented on the monthly inflation data for December 2025. The data show inflation of 5.2%, measured by the Bulgarian statistical office, Vassilev said, recalling that wages should be adjusted for the accumulated inflation as of December. "This is quite high - twice as high as the inflation I left behind as finance minister in 2024," he said.

According to data from the National Statistical Institute (NSI), annual inflation accumulated to 5% in December, as later specified by the press centre of the CC. In his statement to journalists in parliament, Vassilev took into account the data at the end of November, the CC noted.

High inflation is linked to the dramatic increase in household electricity prices, Vasilev commented, adding that in 2025 they rose as much as in 2022, 2023, and 2024 combined. According to him, the inflation rate for December is mainly due to goods and services produced in Bulgaria.

Vassilev further said that if a new government has the support of 121 MPs and the opportunity to carry out genuine reforms, they will insist on a drastic reduction in the number of ministries.
