A deer has been rescued and treated at the Burgas Zoo for injuries suffered during an attack by predators, the Zoo said on its Facebook page on Monday.

The deer was under veterinary supervision for several days and has fully recovered, the Zoo also said. The animal is expected to be released into its natural environment later on Monday.

The deer was spotted in critical condition on Friday. In an attempt to escape, it had entered a pond. After assistance was requested, the Zoo director joined the rescue operation. The animal was transported to the Zoo where its wounds were treated.
