site.btaGreen NGO in Varna Marks 30 Years with New Environmental Education Campaign
To mark its 30th anniversary, the Public Environmental Center for Sustainable Development (PECSD) in Varna will launch a new environmental education campaign, the PECSD reported. Ilian Iliev, Chair of the Board of the PECSD, said that the goal of the campaign is to motivate the public to take small steps to protect the environment as well as to help companies that are planning corporate social responsibility programmes or want to report their environmental impact in line with the EU's Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive or Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive.
At the eco-academy, visitors will be able to learn about the overall state of nature and the role of humans in it. Emphasis will be put on the power to make a positive impact through personal involvement and the simple actions that people can take to create a better place to live.
The PECSD's campaign "I choose the reusable cup" launched 8 years ago has had 10,000 children switch to chrome-plated metal cups instead of using disposable plastic cups, which has saved 180 tonnes of plastic waste and 536 tonnes of carbon emissions.
More than 1,000 children in Varna and Dobrich have been reached by the NGO's campaign "Know your bees, protect your future!".
