Bulgaria's e-Government Minister Valentin Mundrov and Yun Hojung, Minister of the Interior and Safety of the Republic of Korea, opened a Bulgarian-Korean forum dedicated to improving digital transformation and public safety, which took place here on Thursday, Mundrov's Ministry reported. The event focused on deepening cooperation between the two countries in the field of digitization, modern public services, and cybersecurity.
The two ministers emphasized the importance of actively sharing experience, expertise, and technology, as well as the importance of joint projects in the context of accelerated technological development. They noted that Bulgaria and the Republic of Korea share common goals and priorities in the development of sustainable and transparent digital governance.
During the forum, Mundrov said: "Digital transformation is not just a technological change, it is a change in thinking, in the way the state works for its citizens. Our focus is on creating services that are fast, reliable, and secure, because trust is the foundation of modern governance."
The two ministers discussed key topics, including the protection of personal data when using artificial intelligence, the need for sustainable information storage mechanisms, and the risks associated with cyber threats to critical infrastructure. Particular attention was paid to the importance of protecting electoral processes and public registers.
Mundrov said: "Cybersecurity is part of national security. Effective protection of critical systems and registers is a guarantee for the stability of institutions and the protection of citizens' rights. International cooperation is key in this process." Yun Hojung presented the Korean model for digital governance and the country's best practices in the field of sustainable technologies and information systems protection. He emphasized the Republic of Korea's readiness for active partnership with Bulgaria through joint initiatives.
Participants in the forum agreed that successful digitization requires consistency, vision, and responsible management.
