Municipal councillor Emiliya Tsvetanova, who is also the coordinator of There Is Such a People (TISP) in Svishtov Municipality, said on Wednesday she was leaving the party. She explained that her decision was driven by a combination of reasons, which she set out in a declaration published on Facebook.

“I hereby officially announce the submission of my resignation as municipal coordinator of There Is Such a People and the withdrawal of all members of the party from the Municipality of Svishtov from its structure. My decision is prompted by disagreement with certain recent governance decisions adopted by the leadership of the party. I consider that these decisions diverge from the values and principles that motivated me to become part of the political organization and which, until now, I have upheld through my personal commitment and sense of responsibility,” Tsvetanova published on Facebook.

Political activity, Tsvetanova said, must rest on transparency, dialogue, responsible governance and protection of the public interest. “Unfortunately, in recent times I do not see these principles in the way the party is run. The methods of decision-making, the lack of sufficient internal debate and the departure from the initial commitments made to voters put me in a position where I can no longer support and represent the party in good conscience,” she noted.

Tsvetanova said that remaining in TISP under these circumstances would mean compromising her personal moral principles, and added that resigning was a deliberate and responsible choice, driven by the need to preserve her personal and civic stance.
