In a video message to the 5th Global Women Leaders Forum in Sofia on Thursday, MEP Eva Maydell (EPP) said from Brussels that the voices of women leaders are heard when EU policies and agendas are formulated. She noted that ladies such as European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, European Central Bank President Christine Lagarde, International Monetary Fund Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva and European Parliament President Roberta Metsola hold some of the most important positions in Europe and globally.
The Global Women Leaders Forum is organized by the Council of Women in Business in Bulgaria. The main theme of its current installment is "Fast and furious changing world. Women in the driving seat."
According to Maydell, female leaders have a say in the making of decisions about EU rules and funding, and in determining Europe's stance on global matters. "The female viewpoint adds more meaning and a different perspective to discussions," the European parliamentarian said.
She noted that the next generation of European leaders is taking shape today. She called on women leaders to support talented ladies.
