The 2026 draft budget and its impact on business were at the focus of a meeting between government representatives and employer organizations here on Thursday, GERB leader Boyko Borissov wrote on Facebook. According to him, the meeting discussed the predictability of economic policy, the conditions for growth, and the need for a balance between fiscal discipline and support for entrepreneurship.
“At GERB headquarters, we had a constructive discussion with Deputy Prime Minister Tomislav Donchev, Finance Minister Temenuzhka Petkova, representatives of the Finance Ministry and employer organizations, including the Bulgarian Industrial Capital Association, the Bulgarian Industrial Association, and the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry,” Borissov’s post said.
“Dialogue with the real sector is key to the stability and development of the country, and we will maintain it. Talks are continuing at the Finance Ministry in an expanded format and with the participation of other institutions,” Borissov added.
The Wednesday meeting of the National Council for Tripartite Cooperation (NCTC) of the Cabinet, employers and unions, was called off. The participating employers' organizations refused to attend in protest against the 2026 draft state budget. Also to be discussed at the meeting were the draft budgets for the National Health Insurance Fund and public social insurance.
