The King of Spain Felipe VI is on an official visit to Romania. On Tuesday, together with the country's President Nicusor Dan, he will visit the Cincu Training Center, the head of State's administration informed.
The base also houses Spanish military personnel participating in NATO missions to ensure the security of the organization's Eastern flank, local media recalled. King Felipe's visit comes in the context of close bilateral cooperation between Romania and Spain, reinforced including by military cooperation within NATO.
This is the first official visit to Romania by a high-ranking state representative since Nicusor Dan took office as President of the Balkan country.
King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia also visited Romania in 2009, then in their capacity as the Prince and Princess of Asturias. Former monarchs of Spain, King Juan Carlos I and Queen Sofia also visited Romania in 1978 and 2003.
