In the second round of local elections in Croatia, 11.63% of eligible voters had cast their votes by 11:30 a.m. local time, according to data from the State Election Commission published on its website.
Just over 2.8 million Croatian citizens are eligible to vote in the second round of local elections, after which the names of 12 more county governors, the mayor of Zagreb, which has city and county status, as well as 46 mayors and 62 municipal chiefs will be announced.
As in the first round, which took place on May 18, adult Croatian citizens residing in the municipality, city, or county whose local authorities are being elected are eligible to vote. Voting is only possible at the place of residence.
At 7 a.m. on Sunday morning, 4,980 polling stations were opened. They will close at 7:00 p.m. local time, until which time a ban on campaigning will be in force, according to national television HRT.
The most unexpected results are expected in the mayoral elections in Zagreb, Split, Rijeka, Pula, Vukovar, and several other smaller towns.
The first results of the elections will be announced one hour after the polls close, at 8 p.m., and the final data on the winners and losers will be announced shortly before 10 p.m. local time.
