The independent candidate for president of Romania, Victor Ponta, surprisingly changed the place where he voted. On his way to Bucharest, the former prime minister made a spontaneous decision and cast his ballot at a polling station in Corbi, Arges county, instead of Bucharest, his staff said.

He told the media that he had chosen to vote in Corbi because it was there that he had announced he would run for president. On Sunday, he also published a video of the campaign launch, filmed at the Corbii de Piatră, the oldest rock monastery in Romania.

Fifty-two-year-old Victor Ponta, former prime minister of Romania and former president of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), is running as an independent in the 2025 presidential elections. He was expelled from the SPD after announcing his candidacy.
