site.btaPM Kovachevski: High Time for Decision that Will Ensure North Macedonia's EU Integration
French President Emmanuel Macron's message is very clear, he expressed his strong support that now is the time for North Macedonia to take the necessary decisions that will secure the European integration and the European future of the country, said North Macedonia's Prime Minister Dimitar Kovachevski in an interview with Channel 5 after the end of the GLOBSEC 2023 forum, held in Bratislava.
In Bratislava, Kovachevski also met with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen. They both stressed the importance of taking the necessary decisions that are important for the process of Skopje's European integration.
"We talked about the process of constitutional changes that has started in our country. The proposal for the initiative has already been made, it has been sent to the Ministry of Justice, next week it will be submitted to the government, which will later send it to parliament to start the procedure. President Macron, as well as the President of the European Commission, said that now is the time to take the necessary decisions that allow North Macedonia's continued smooth integration into the EU," Kovachevski said, stressing that the country should take advantage of the geopolitical moment and the consent of EU member states about EU enlargement in view of the Western Balkans.
Kovachevski said that at the meeting he plans to hold with the leader of the opposition VMRO-DPMNE party, Hristijan Mickoski, he will focus on the need to make decisions support for a European North Macedonia, relations with its neighbours and Skopje's stance in line with good neighbourliness.
