Joint training programmes, hybrid learning labs, and digital educational resources have been developed through the BEAD – Bridging Education Across the Danube project, the Silistra Branch of Ruse University said on Monday.
The project aimed to improve access to high-quality, innovative education through shared educational infrastructure, cross-border training programmes, and lifelong learning opportunities. As part of the project, two hybrid learning laboratories were established and connected in Silistra and the Romanian town of Calarasi.
The partners also developed a joint cross-border education and training framework, curricula, and digital learning resources, enabling joint courses, online lectures, practical training, and knowledge exchange among students, academics, businesses, and partner organizations on both sides of the Danube.
The project also delivered hybrid training in digital and intercultural skills for university students in Bulgaria and Romania, as well as students from the Vocational High School of Agriculture in Sitovo. Combining in-person and online learning, the courses focused on digital skills, intercultural awareness, and cross-border collaboration.
To mark the launch of the joint hybrid learning activities, project partners planted two trees outside the Silistra Branch building, reflecting the principles of the European New European Bauhaus initiative for more sustainable and attractive public spaces.
With a budget of EUR 260,000, funded under the Interreg VI-A Romania–Bulgaria Programme, the project was led by the Bulgarian-Romanian Chamber of Commerce in partnership with the Silistra Branch of Ruse University, the Calarasi Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture, and the Calarasi Branch of the University of Agronomic Sciences and Veterinary Medicine of Bucharest. The partners plan to continue their cooperation by using the newly created infrastructure and educational resources for future cross-border initiatives in the Silistra–Calarasi region.
