On this day in Bulgarian history:
1896: The Bulgarian Naturalist Society is set up in Sofia.
1988: A second joint Bulgarian-Soviet space mission takes place, with Bulgarian cosmonaut Alexander Alexandrov on board the spacecraft.
1998: The Internal Macedonian Revolutionary Organization – Union of Macedonian Organizations holds its constituent congress.
2006: The Bulgarian Transport Minister signs in Luxembourg the agreement on a single European airspace. After the final entry into force of the document, Bulgaria receives access to 400 airports in 35 European countries.

1869: The first "chitalishte" community centre is established in Veliko Tarnovo, later on called "Nadezhda."
1909: Diplomatic relations established with the Netherlands.
1957: The first hotel at the Golden Sands resort, Rodina, opens.
2004: The Central Bus Station is unveiled in Sofia.
