International Students Day.

On this date in Bulgarian history:

1912: Flying officer Radul Milkov and a British photographer make first attempt at aerial photography of Turkish military installations from Albatros fighter during First Balkan War (1912-1913).

1926: Indian poet and writer Rabindranath Tagore arrives in Sofia. 

1934: Diplomatic relations established with Brazil at legation level. Promoted to embassy level on May 11, 1974.

1945: Diplomatic relations with Albania restored (established 1914; severed in April 1939).

1989: Parliament releases Todor Zhivkov from office as State Council Chairman. He is replaced by Peter Mladenov.
