The Bulgarian Foreign Ministry condemned the Manchester synagogue attack in a post on X on Thursday. “We are shocked and deeply saddened by the brutal attack at the synagogue in Manchester, especially on Yom Kippur, the holiest day in the Jewish calendar,” the post reads.
“We join British Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper in condemning this act of violence and express our solidarity with all those affected,” the post further says.
“We strongly condemn terrorism in all its forms,” the Foreign Ministry added.
Earlier in the day, an attacker drove a car directly at members of the public outside the synagogue and was then seen to attack people with a knife, killing two and seriously injuring three others, the Associated Press reported. The attack took place on Yom Kippur, the day of atonement and the most significant day for the Jewish community, when many worshippers had gathered at the synagogue.
