The Pedagogical College in Pleven, part of the structure of Sts. Cyril and Methodius University of Veliko Tarnovo, opened the new academic year with 73 state-funded students enrolled in three specialties: Primary School Pedagogy, Primary School Pedagogy with English, and Preschool Pedagogy with English.

The University’s Vice Rector for Quality and Accreditation, Prof. Vihren Bouzov, congratulated the students and faculty on behalf of himself and Rector Prof. Hristo Bondzholov. Bouzov stressed that this academic year is of special importance for the college, as a decision is expected on its transformation into a branch of the university, which is an important step that will provide opportunities for development and consolidation.

Greetings to the students were also extended by College General Assembly Chair Prof. Penka Marcheva, College Director Assoc. Prof. Boryana Zdravkova, Pleven Regional Governor Martin Machev, and Pleven Deputy Mayor Elina Dimitrova.

In the 2024/2025 academic year, 16,995 foreign students, including from EU Member States, enrolled in Bulgarian universities. The largest number of international students came from Greece (3,277), the United Kingdom (2,235), Ukraine (2,151), Germany (1,532) and Italy (990). A growing number of international students and doctoral candidates, including from Western Europe, are choosing to study in Bulgaria, with 779 additional enrolments in 2024/25 compared with the previous academic year. BTA has signed indefinite agreements for ongoing collaboration with 45 of Bulgaria's 51 universities to provide copyright-cleared materials and student internship opportunities.
