Representatives of the Commission for Consumer Protection (CCP) and the National Revenue Agency (NRA) Friday held an information meeting in Asenovgrad (Southern Bulgaria) within a national awareness-raising campaign for the introduction of the euro in Bulgaria which is planned to take place on January 1, 2026. Basic principles and technical details of the process of switching from leva to euro were explained during the meeting.

The event, held in the old Municipal Council building, was attended by the CCP's Dimitar Iliev and the NRA's Diana Krasteva. The representatives of the institutions emphasized that prices in retail outlets must be shown both in leva and euro, using the official fixed exchange rate. It was pointed out that all available bank accounts and electronic funds will be automatically converted into euro at the fixed rate, without the need for any action on the part of consumers.
