Seasonally adjusted construction output increased month-to-month in July 2025 in both the European Union and the euro area, Eurostat published on its website Thursday.

Construction output in July rose by 0.6% in the EU and by 0.5% in the euro area compared to June 2025. In June 2025, output fell by 0.3% in the EU and by 0.7% in the euro area. Year-on-year, construction output in July increased by 3.6% in the EU and by 3.2% in the euro area.

Construction output edged up by 0.1% month-to-month in July, after a 1.8% rise in June and a 1.6% decline in May.

Year-on-year, output increased by 6.1% in July 2025, after a 6.8% rise in June, placing the country sixth in the EU by pace of annual growth.

By sector

In the EU, building construction decreased by 1.3% in July compared to June, civil engineering rose by 0.7%, and specialized construction activities increased by 0.8%.

In the euro area, building construction fell by 1.4%, civil engineering rose by 0.5%, and specialized construction activities increased by 1.2%.

Year-on-year in July 2025, building construction in the EU rose by 3.6%, civil engineering by 2.9%, and specialized activities by 2.7%.

In the euro area, building construction increased by 3.3%, civil engineering by 3.4%, and specialized construction activities by 2.8%.

By country

Among EU member states with available data, the largest month-to-month increases in July were recorded in Romania (20.1%), Slovenia (9.9%), and Belgium (2.2%).

The biggest declines were registered in Spain (-4.5%), Sweden (-4.0%), and Portugal (-1.5%).

Year-on-year, the strongest growth was in Romania (41.1%), Spain (22.8%), and Slovenia (21.4%).

The largest decreases were in Sweden (-4.5%), Austria (-2.7%), France (-1.7%), and Germany (-1.2%).
