The distribution of bonuses at the Road Infrastructure Agency continues and has not been suspended, said Petar Petrov MP of Vazrazhdane in Parliament's lobby on Thursday. Over the past year and a half, the RIA has distributed BGN 14 million in bonuses to 2,113 employees: BGN 9,414,207 in 2024 and BGN 4,689,630 in the first six months of 2025. This is what the API does instead of repairing roads and keeping them in a safe condition, the MP commented.

He explained that the data came from a response from Minister of Regional Development and Public Works Ivan Ivanov. "I requested a territorial breakdown, because almost everywhere in the country there are a large percentage of extremely poor roads, and it was only right to understand where huge sums of money were being distributed. I suspect that the distribution of bonuses at the Road Infrastructure Agency is a huge corruption scheme, in which part of the money distributed as bonuses is then returned in envelopes 'under the table' up the chain of command," Ivanov also commented. The Minister did not answer his question about which positions in the API received these bonuses - this information is hidden and has not been provided to Ivanov.

"Vazrazhdane is also organising a protest on Thursday, and we have invited all people who feel free to come and protest," said Petrov regarding the protest of Continue the Change - Democratic Bulgaria earlier in the day.
