During the marking of the professional holiday of the Directorate General for Fire Safety and Civil Protection (DG FSCP) on Friday, Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov said the government's political opponents claim that the Interior Ministry failed in its efforts to tackle this year's wildfires. "I believe that we and our political opponents live in parallel realities, parallel universes," he said.
Zhelyazkov commented on the no-confidence motion against the government submitted to Parliament earlier in the day.
"We maintain that the Interior Ministry and DG FSCP, along with all those called to join the fight against the fires, have demonstrated to our European partners and neighbours their skill, coordination and effort in tackling this challenge," Zhelyazkov said.
According to the Prime Minister, the country is entering the start of a heated political season, during which political "fires" are flaring up.
"We will defend your work, skills, expertise and honour against any attacks," Zhelyazkov said.
