"We have a new project — today [Thursday] was the founding meeting, which is meant to prepare a national conference for the creation of a new political entity.," said Ahmed Dogan, the former honorary chair of the Movement for Rights and Freedoms (MRF), during a briefing here. He promised a more detailed press conference, but asked for a little time.

“As for me, all kinds of rumours are being spread on social media and other unofficial outlets – I am alive, I am healthy, I haven’t had a heart attack, I don’t stagger around like a drunk,” he opened the press conference. “I will participate in this political project [and] my colleagues will decide whether I will be leading it,” he replied to a question on whether he would head the new political force. 

“Today, an Initiative Committee was established and its leadership elected to prepare the holding of a National Founding Conference for the creation of a political party – Alliance for Rights and Freedoms” announced MP Taner Ali in a declaration. 

Back in July, Dogan declared the start of a three-month transitional process to establish a new political formation.
