Bulgaria is still realizing that by becoming part of the eurozone, it will have much more chances for economic security and financial stability, Environment and Water Minister Manol Genov said here on Thursday during an information meeting, part of the National Information Campaign for the Introduction of the Euro in Bulgaria.

He emphasized that this will apply to all areas of State policy, and it is especially important for the environment. "We all have expectations, we all have concerns, we all have some predictions about the effects that may occur after January 1, 2026. But we must realize that this process is a great challenge for all of us. It is a path to many direct benefits for Bulgarian business. This will also allow us access to the so-called green investments," Genov pointed out.

According to him, Bulgaria is still lagging behind in access to the European Commission's green funds. "We know that the climate transition is not going in the best way in Europe. We see an outflow of investments, we see investments being taken out of Europe and indeed this balanced approach is very important for all the requirements that we are currently making to business," Genov noted, adding that this will give Bulgaria the opportunity as a State, as a sectoral policy in the environment and water, to increase the quality of life of Bulgarian citizens.
