Red alert for very dangerous high temperatures has been declared in 12 of Bulgaria’s 28 administrative regions for Saturday, July 26, the National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology says on its website.
The highest alert level, which is for temperatures surpassing 41 C, applies for the regions of Blagoevgrad, Haskovo, Lovech, Montana, Pleven, Plovdiv, Ruse, Stara Zagora, Veliko Tarnovo, Vidin, Vratsa and Yambol. The rest of the country is under orange alert for dangerously hot weather on Saturday.
Against the backdrop of increasingly frequent fires and with temperatures expected to reach extremely high levels, the Ministry pf Environment and Water asked the 15 regional inspectorates of environment and water to take urgent fire safety measures.
