The positive trend on Bulgaria’s tractor market continued into the second quarter of 2025, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Food’s quarterly report on newly registered machinery, published by its Control and Technical Inspection unit.
For a second consecutive quarter, registrations of new wheeled tractors posted growth after two years of decline. Between January and June 2025, 601 new tractors were registered—106 more than the same period in 2024, marking a 21.41% increase year-on-year.
In contrast, grain harvester registrations declined. Only 49 new units were registered in the first half of 2025, down from 64 a year earlier, or a 23.44% drop.
Telescopic loaders also saw a slight year-on-year decrease, with 146 new machines registered, which is five fewer than in the same period last year, representing a 3.31% drop.
Front loaders recorded 159 new registrations, down 12 units, or 7.02%, compared to Q2 of 2024.
By comparison, front loaders were the only category showing growth in the same period last year, with a 37.9% increase, while all other machinery types saw a decline.
On a global scale, lower economic activity and declining profitability in agriculture continue to impact the demand for farming equipment. 2024 closed with 2.03 million registered tractors worldwide, a drop of 8% from the previous year, according to Italy’s Agricultural Machinery Manufacturers Association, FederUnacoma.
This confirms a persistent downward trend, with global tractor registrations falling from nearly 2.5 million in 2021 to 2.03 million in 2024—a loss of approximately 450,000 units over four years.
The total market value of tractors also shrank, falling by 10% compared to 2023 to $52 billion. FederUnacoma’s data indicate a decline across all major agricultural economies.
