site.btaUPDATED Vazrazhdane Supporters Protest in Front of Parliament

Supporters of the Vazrazhdane party rallied in front of the National Assembly on Friday. Their placards read “Resign”, “Keep the lev!”, “We are winning the battle!”, “The future is sovereign states!”, “Resignations, court and prison for GERB, BSP, MRF, CC, DB, and TISP!” and slogans “Resign” and “No to the euro”.
Tensions arose in front of the National Assembly building when protesters tried to break through the police cordon. The protesters then headed towards the building of the Bulgarian National Bank, after which some of them again tried to break through the police cordon guarding the entrance to the National Assembly.
The Ministry of Interior reported that three police officers were injured during the protests. Two men aged 21 and 43 have been detained for alleged hooliganism and aggressive behaviour towards law enforcement officers. The 43-year-old has multiple criminal records for drug possession, theft, driving a vehicle under the influence of drugs, inflicting moderate bodily harm, hooliganism, destruction and damage of property, and car theft.
