A Tourist Information Centre was unveiled here on Tuesday. It was established under a project of the MIG Belene-Nikopol Local Initiative Group. Minister of Tourism Miroslav Borshosh cut the ribbon together with Valeri Lachovski MP of GERB-UDF and Mayor Milen Dulev.

In his speech, the Minister commented that such events are important for places like Belene. "This is how things should happen - local authorities, citizens, community centres, the State, all of us who are trying to build this country, being together to move it forward. If we are not together, but constantly divided, we will not succeed," Minister Borshosh said.

He added that tourism also helps to develop the local economy, family businesses, so that people can stay in their native places and give birth to their children here, so that Bulgaria does not become depopulated. The Minister thanked Mayor Milen Dulev and Municipal Council Chair Bistra Pavlovska for their efforts for Belene.

The Belene Mayor said that the Tourist Information Centre is an important step in the efforts to develop cultural tourism and preserve the local identity. "Belene has a lot to show - unique nature, rich history and preserved cultural memory. Let this centre be a place of knowledge, inspiration and pride for all of us," he stressed.
