An exhibition with more than 40 paintings by Jaroslav Vesin was unveiled at the National Museum of Military History here on Thursday. The exhibition entitled One Colourful Czech in Bulgaria is dedicated to the 165th anniversary of the artist's birth and the 110th anniversary of his death and will be open for visitors until September 7.

The Director of the National Museum of Military History, Sonya Penkova, said in her key remarks: "This year's exhibition is dedicated to a great name connected both with the history of Bulgarian fine arts and with the history of the Museum of Military History and the Ministry of Defence. Jaroslav Vesin is a colourful Czech in Bulgaria, as we have called our exhibition, but I don't know if we should call him a Czech at all, because most of his artistic career passed in Bulgaria. This is the third exhibition in the series of exhibitions dedicated to Jaroslav Vesin. He was the first chief military artist of the army."

The canvases present domestic scenes, landscapes, the peaceful life of the Bulgarian armed forces during peace, and evidence of what it experienced and suffered in the Balkan Wars.
