Bulgaria's first ever national map of intellectual property is presented during a forum at the University of National and World Economy (UNWE) in Sofia Wednesday.

President Rumen Radev is among the attendees.

The map was developed by UNWE and the Institute of Intellectual Property and Technology Transfer, in partnership with the Ministry of Culture, the Patent Office, the National Statistical Institute, the National Association of Municipalities in the Republic of Bulgaria, and the National Association of Chairpersons of Municipal Councils in the Republic of Bulgaria.

The map has been prepared based on a study including 23 indicators related to intellectual property objects, and in broad collaboration among state institutions, local authorities, and UNWE - involving 31 researchers and 265 municipalities. It uses official data on industrial and literary-artistic property across the country, that were collected and analyzed.

This map is intended to serve as a policy-making tool in setting strategic priorities for national development and for the targeted allocation of national resources in the formation of state policies in the areas of innovation, education, science, and culture. It will also support the implementation of local initiatives by municipal authorities to foster regional competitiveness, said UNWE.
