1890: Ruse Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Bulgaria's first chamber of commerce) is set up.
1918: Parliament passes Act on Insurance of Factory and Office Workers against Accident and Illness.
1919: First arrival of Simplon Orient Express at Sofia Railway Station.
1957: Central Department Store (TzUM), Bulgaria's largest, opens in Sofia.
1968: Diplomatic relations established with Nepal.
1993: Parliament ratifies by law Europe Agreement establishing an association between the European Communities and their Member States, of the one part, and the Republic of Bulgaria, of the other part (signed in Brussels, March 8, 1993; in force as from February 1, 1995).
1997: In Moscow, Prime Ministers Stefan Sofiyanski of Bulgaria and Viktor Chernomyrdin of Russia sign bilateral Agreement on development of system of gas pipelines for transmission of Russian gas through Bulgarian territory and supply of natural gas to Bulgaria.
2000: Union of Employers in Bulgaria established (since June 5, 2006: Confederation of Employers and Industrialists in Bulgaria).
2004: National flags of six new NATO Member States: Bulgaria, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Romania, Slovakia and Slovenia, are raised at military ceremony in front of Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe (SHAPE) north of Mons, Belgium.
