Parliament Chair Nataliya Kiselova opens "One Unknown Collection" exhibition, Sofia, April 9, 2025 (National Assembly Photo)

One Unknown Collection featuring 49 works by Bulgarian and foreign artists displayed for the first time is on at the National Academy of Art from Wednesday. National Assembly Chair Nataliya Kiselova opened the exhibition of works dating from the late 19th century to the mid-1950s, Parliament said.

Kiselova said the exhibition is an example of continuity between generations and "of the care and respect each of us should hold for the irreplaceable movable cultural assets that have captured the spirit of their time and preserved it for future generations". She said she was confident the exhibition would bring joy to all art lovers, while also inspiring students and providing them with a fresh impetus to remain dedicated to art and strive for excellence.

The works of art were housed in the residence of Valko Chervenkov, prime minister between 1950 and 1956. Dundee Precious Metals found them in 2004 when the company acquired the Chelopech copper-gold mine and the residence building in Western Bulgaria.

The exhibition is on at Academia Gallery until May 9.
