NATO Supreme Allied Commander Transformation Visits Bulgaria

The NATO Supreme Allied Commander Transformation, Gen. Philippe Lavigne, is on an official visit to Bulgaria from March 6 to 8, the Defence Ministry reported. The official part of his visit begins on Thursday with a meeting with Bulgaria’s Chief of Defence, Admiral Emil Eftimov.

The talks will focus on matters of mutual interest related to the process of the Alliance’s defence planning, achieving operational compatibility, investments in collective defence and projects with multinational and general financing, in which Bulgaria participates.

Gen. Lavigne is also scheduled to confer with President Rumen Radev, outgoing Prime Minister Nikolay Denkov, outgoing Defence Minister Todor Tagarev and the Parliamentary Defence Committee.

Gen. Lavigne will visit the G.S. Rakovski Military Academy and the Crisis Management and Disaster Response Centre of Excellence in Sofia, which is under the Allied Command Transformation’s methodological leadership.
