Moscow and Kyiv are trying to influence the international context of the war in their favour through diplomatic initiatives, the head of the Sofia office of the Friedrich Ebert Foundation, Jacques Paparo, said during a conference titled "Wars and Peace: will the time of diplomacy come?". The event was organized by the Institute of Economics and International Relations and the Friedrich Ebert Foundation.

Russian military diplomacy aims to weaken the so-called collective West at the global level in order to help stop foreign support for Ukraine. Ukraine, for its part, is working to isolate Russia. Its formula for peace is no longer aimed at Russia, but at the international community. The long duration and global impact of the war have prompted various actors to launch peace initiatives, but all have failed, Paparo said.

As for the conflict in the Middle East, the traditional contradictions have been compounded by unheard of barbaric acts of terrorism, which in no way help find a peaceful solution. The time for diplomacy is long overdue, Jacques Paparo added.
