In August 2023, the seasonally adjusted industrial production increased by 0.6% in both the euro area and the EU, compared with July 2023, said Eurostat, the statistical office of the European Union, on Friday. In July 2023, industrial production decreased by 1.3% in both the euro area and the EU.

In August 2023 compared with August 2022, industrial production decreased by 5.1% in the euro area and by 4.4% in the EU.

The biggest drop in industrial production among EU countries (year on year) was registered in Ireland (-27.3%), Slovenia (-12.3%), Estonia (-11.9%) and Bulgaria (-9.7%).

On the contrary, the highest growth in industrial production was recorded in Slovakia (+4.7%), Denmark (+3.5%) and Malta (+3%).

In August 2023, the volume of industrial production in Bulgaria increased by 1.3%, compared to a month earlier. In comparison, the biggest monthly drop was registered in Hungary (-2.4%), Croatia (-2.2%) and Belgium (-1.8%).
